INDUS VALLEY CIVILIZATION
Indus valley civilization represented first urbanisation in Indian sub-continent . It was an urban civilisation. Under this civilisation at least 8 to 9 sites assumed the urban status.
Indus valley civilization ,Like other contemporary civilisation was a bronze age civilization. It means the Indus people shown technological advancement through mixing tin with copper.
The specific feature of it was its developed town planning and efficient drainage system. The basis of urbanisation was prepared by agrarian surplus as well as the developed trade and commerce.
While observing the level of economic development under it we come to the conclusion that harappan society should be stratified society.
Harappan people developed scientific approach to life , they represented developed technology. They were using a script that was pictographic in nature known as Boustrophedom. They were having better knowledge of calculation and geometry. In calculation, they were using 16 and its multiples. At the upper level , they were using decimal system and at the lower level , they were using binary system in their calculation.
