MAGADHAN IMPERIALISM
Earlier it was believed that as jainism and buddhism were the product of the thought process of saint mahavira and Buddha respectively,so was Magadhan imperialism the produvt of military and diplomatic success of some of magadhan rulers. But when we observe minutely, we come to the conclusion that the role of individual should be evaluted in context of some objective material factors:
First, both the capitals of magadh were geographically protected.
Second, magadhan region was militarity in better placed position. It was possessing the reserve of iron that was being used in manufacturing of weapons.
Third, magadhan region was economically in better condition . As the result of the use of iron in agriculture as well as the begining of plantation of paddy, vast agrarian surplus came in to existence. It led to the develpoment of crafts and trade.
Furthermore the military and diplomatic success of some of their ambitious magadhan rulers like Bimbasar, Ajatshatru, shishunaga,mahapadamnanda,chandragupta maurya, bindusar, ashok also contributed the process.
