PHILOSOPHY PAPER I
MOCK PAPER-1
TIME: THREE HOUR                                    MARKS:100
NOTE:
(i) The question paper consists of two parts I.e. Part A and Part B , each having four
questions.
(ii) Candidates are required to attempt five question in all.
(iii) Question no. 1 of part A and question no. 5 of part B are compulsory.
(iv) Candidates are required to answer three more questions out of remaining six
questions, selecting at least , one question from each part. In this way two questions
will be attemted from each part i.e. one compulsory question and one more question.
(v) All questions shall carry equal marks i.a. 20 marks each

SECTION A

1.Write short note on the following

(a) Aristotles conceptions of form and matter

(b)Descartes doctrine of  I think therefore Iam

(c)Lockes rejection of innate ideas

(d)A.J.Aiyers principle of verification

2.Expound  and examine the spheres of phenomenon and noumenon in the philosophy of Emanual Kant.

3.Discuss Hegels dialectical method with the operative terms of contradiction and sublation.

4. “Existance precedes essence” Discuss.

SECTION B

5. Write short note on the following

(a) Carvaka refutation of inference

(b) Jain doctrine of syadvada

(c)Nature of Nirvana according to Buddhism

(d) Nyaya theory of perception

6. Explain and examine Ramanuja s refutation theory of Maya.

7. Elucidate fully the concept of  samyog  and abhava according vaisesika philosophy.

8.State and examine Sankhya s arguments for the existence of prakriti
